flow
as you watch the ocean's waves crash and flow, not only is it beautiful sight in general, but you can see a gorgeous spectrum of colors in the water. inspired by this, we wanted to come up with something to represent that. we thought going with a capsule collection would be best since this wasn't a concept to base a full collection around. and the name for the collection, flow, was natural and self-explanatory.
we started tinkering with graphics to emulate the waves and eventually came up with a gradient graphic to capture the look and different colors of a crashed wave.
we thought the best way to execute on this concept would be an all-over print, which we never did before, so that was going to be an experiment in and of itself. however, before we would even be able to experiment with the print, we needed the canvas, and so we discussed what silhouettes might be the best vessels for an all-over wave print.
a t-shirt was a given, but since it had been a long time since we had any sleeveless tee options, we decided to add that to the mix as well. and for the last piece, we really wanted to create a super comfortable and novel pair of basketball shorts, so this was the perfect opportunity to do that.
once the silhouettes were decided, we had to figure out what fabrics to make them with. when you're doing an all-over print, some fabrics don't absorb the print/ink as well, which can not only result in dull and lackluster looking prints, but there can also be issues when washing the garments. with these things considered, we had to make absolutely sure that whatever fabric options we went with would work harmoniously with the prints as well.
development took experimenting over the course of several months to perfect the concept and execution, but the end result turned out incredibly beautiful. going into production, we were targeting an early q3 of 2024 release date, but with unforeseen delays during the production cycle, the release got pushed back to q4.
although the release schedule wasn't what we had initially planned, we're still very thrilled to have been able to bring alive a concept so well. these are truly unique pieces that not only look great, but fit and feel just as great. we felt that we did justice in what we set out to do with capturing the awe-inspiring essence of the ocean waves, so we genuinely hope that you feel the same.
